Log homes can have many unique concerns only found in a log structure. Are the logs kiln dried, are they milled? Have the logs been properly chinked and sealed? Is the roofing flashed sufficiently? Are there shrinkage issues that have affected door and window operation? Is there moisture, pest, or structural damage? So many different issues can be found that are not typical of a standard home. Our Inspectors have had training and hands on experience in the construction and remodeling of log homes.
For many homeowners, a deck is the one project most people will attempt on their own. However, this can be a very bad thing for the inexperienced. When asked, our Inspectors cant imagine how many decks they have collectively built. With elevated decks safety can be a serious issue. We take special care to examine the critical connections.
Crawl spaces can vary from from a modern; completely insulated, waterproof, heated, encapsulated space suitable for storage to an 8 inch non accessible dirt floor space built 160 years ago. Knowing what can be expected depending on age and conditions is a key when dealing with older crawl spaces.
Chimney condition is VITAL to the safe operation of furnaces, gas appliances, fireplaces and wood stoves. Our inspectors are both certified and have hands on experience installing and repairing both gas and masonry chimneys.
Are you nearing the end of your warranty period on your home? Our Certified Inspectors can find repairable issues BEFORE your warranty expires.
